BIOGRAPHY
One of most famous players in NHL history, Morenz`s time with the Rangers was brief and came near the end of his career. Ironically, however, it was Morenz`s stellar play with Montreal in the mid-1920s that helped inspire the formation of the Rangers, whose founders recognized that NHL hockey was exciting enough for New York fans.

Although Morenz only played half a season for the Bblueshirts at the advanced age of 33, his career came to a tragic end exactly one year after his Rangers debut when he suffered a major leg injury while playing for the Canadiens. During his recovery from the injury, a distraught Morenz suffered heart failure and died at age 34.
