BIOGRAPHY A three-time All-Star at left wing for the Rangers, Dean Prentice played 11 straight seasons in New York and emerged as one of the team`s top scorers in the late 1950s.
Originally signed by the organization as a 17-year-old in 1950, Prentice joined the Rangers` junior team in Guelph, Ontario, where he spent the next two seasons. Sent back to Guelph for the start of the 1952-53 season, he was recalled to the Rangers for good in November 1952.
Prentice`s best season came in 1959-60, when he scored a team-leading 32 goals to earn a berth on the NHL`s Second All-Star Team and win the Rangers MVP award. That was the first of three straight 20-plus goal seasons for Prentice, who finished his Rangers career with nearly 200 goals.
