BIOGRAPHY
Eddie Olczyk came to the New York Rangers organization on Dec. 28, 1992 after being traded from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Kris King and Tie Domi.

Injuries took a toll during his tenure with the Rangers, as he suffered from a fracture and torn ligaments in his right thumb in a game against Anaheim on Jan. 28, 1994. The injury required surgery, and he would not play again until March 22, 1994. The following season the Chicago native missed games due to back spasms and kidney stones.

His teammates voted him to win the Players Player Award, which is given to the best team player, for the 1993-94 season. Since he only played in 37 regular season games and one Conference Final game, his name was going to be excluded from the Stanley Cup. His teammates successfully lobbied for him, and his name was included on the Cup along with the rest of his Rangers teammates.
