It was another big night on Tuesday in the Swedish Elitserien for Rangers prospects Oscar Lindberg and Jesper Fast, both of whom are signed draft picks expected to be playing in North America next season.
Lindberg, who is off to a very strong start as the No. 1 center for Skelleftea AIK this season, scored a goal and added two assists to match his career-high of three points in a 5-2 win at Gothenburg.
Fast, meanwhile, scored two goals and was plus-2 for the game as left wing on the No. 2 line in HV-71 Jonkoping's 5-3 home win over AIK Solna.
Lindberg's strong game began just 3:28 into the first period, when he had the lone assist on the opening goal. Later in the period, he picked up another assist, also at even-strength, to give Skelleftea a 3-0 lead. He then notched a power-play goal just 31 seconds into the third period to break the game open at 5-1.
Through five Elitserien games this season, Lindberg has two goals and five assists for seven points -- just three points short of his total for 2011-12. In addition to his scoring totals on Tuesday, Lindberg also won 13 of 20 faceoffs to lead all players in the game.
Fast was part of a three-goal HV-71 outburst in the second period, scoring at even-strength to kick it off at the 5:33 mark. He was then on the ice for another even-strength goal that made it 3-1 at 7:38, and a power play goal for a 4-1 lead at 12:54 of the second.
The hard-working Fast, who plays on HV-71's No. 1 line, later scored his second goal of the game -- and third in five games this season -- at 0:54 of the third period, giving the home team a 5-2 lead at even-strength.
Fast returns to action on Thursday at Ornskoldsvik, while Lindberg and Skelleftea will face Gavle at home.
