Kreider recalled from Connecticut

Rookie had scored six goals in eight AHL games; Haley returned to Whale

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has recalled forward Chris Kreider from the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL), while forward Micheal Haley has been assigned to Connecticut.

Kreider, 21, has registered a point in six of eight games since his assignment to Connecticut on February 28, tallying six goals and one assist over the span. His six goals in the month of March lead the team, while his seven points rank third on Connecticut over the span. Kreider has registered 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points, along with 65 penalty minutes in 42 games with the Whale this season. He is tied for sixth on the team in goals, and ranks third on Connecticut with five power play goals

Kreider returns to the Rangers, where he has registered one goal and one assist in 11 games this season. He tallied a point in consecutive games, including his first career regular season point with a goal on February 5 at New Jersey and his first career regular season assist on February 7 against the New York Islanders. He made his NHL regular season debut in the season opener on January 19 at Boston

The Boxford, Massachusetts native was originally selected by the Rangers as a first round choice, 19th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft

Haley, 26, has skated in nine games with the Rangers this season, having made his Blueshirts debut on March 5 against Philadelphia. He returns to Connecticut where he has registered nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points, along with 158 penalty minutes and a plus-five rating in 56 games this season. He ranked fifth in the AHL with 18 fighting majors at the time of his recall on March 5. He also led the team and ranked 11th in the league in penalty minutes, and was tied for seventh on the Whale in goals

The Guelph, Ontario was signed by the Rangers as a free agent on July 1, 2012. He was originally signed by the Islanders as an undrafted free agent on May 19, 2008.
