On-Ice AM Sessions: included a reinforced effort on puck control and quickly transitioned to puck protection. Each drill demanded faster execution with the older age groups. Corner, chaos and diminishing puck drills were utilized to replicate in game situations. Jay Wells, a New York Rangers alumni and 1994 Stanley Cup Champion joined all of our kids on the ice during the morning coaching the groups through diminishing pucks and 1 on 1 battle drills.
On-Ice PM Sessions: focused on passing by enforcing the key elements of read/reacting, anticipation, heads up creativity and offering a target. Goaltending drills covered lateral movements and recovery back toward the post.
Dynamic Training: Led by Coach Jason Fortino of Total Nunziato Training located in Elmwood Park, N.J., today’s focus remained on core strength and advanced onto quick feet and proper footwork.
Classroom Session: Day 2 covered the importance and effect of hydration and keeping the proper amount of water in your body throughout the day.
Off-Ice Skills Sessions: Included a secondary lesson on passing that covered stationary passing, quick touch passing and saucer passes. Goaltenders continued developing their skills off the ice with reactionary drills.
