New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with undrafted free agent defenseman Troy Donnay.
Donnay, 19, skated in 68 games last season with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), registering one goal and seven assists for eight points, along with 48 penalty minutes. He served as an Alternate Captain, and was one of only two Erie players to skate in all 68 regular season games last season. He tallied three points (one goal, two assists) in a four-game span from October 13 against Mississauga to October 20 against Windsor.
In 2011-12, Donnay split the season between the London Knights and Erie, registering one goal and seven assists for eight points, along with 44 penalty minutes in 50 contests. In 23 games with London, he registered three assists, along with 16 penalty minutes and a plus-seven plus/minus rating. Donnay tallied his first career goal on January 7, 2012 against Kitchener.
The 6-7, 195-pounder has skated in 143 career OHL contests over three seasons with London and Erie, registering two goals and 15 assists for 17 points, along with 104 penalty minutes. Donnay made his OHL debut on October 1, 2010 against Owen Sound, and registered his first career point with an assist on November 12, 2010 against Barrie.
