POST-GAME NOTES
\r\nRangers 0, Ottawa Senators 2

FLA AT NYR
The Rangers will go into every game this season knowing that their goaltender, Henrik Lundqvist, is capable of stealing the show. He nearly did it again on Saturday night in Ottawa, but ended up being upstaged by Senators goalie Martin Gerber, who made 35 saves to Lundqvist's 31, Gerber rode his team's defense-first game plan to a 2-0 shutout that spoiled the Rangers' road opener.

Recap

THREE STARS OF THE GAME
1. M. GERBER -- OTT
2. D. ALFREDSSON -- OTT
3. H. LUNDQVIST -- NYR

NOTES

* Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves, including 17 in the second period. He has been on the losing ends of tight shutouts in each of his last two games in Ottawa.

* Forward Sean Avery left the game at 7:23 of the first period with an injured left shoulder after taking a hit from Chris Neil, who took an elbowing penalty on the play.

* The Rangers had not been shut out since a Jan. 16, 2007 loss at New Jersey.

* Defenseman Jason Strudwick made his season debut in place of Paul Mara, who was a healthy scratch. Defenseman Thomas Pock and forward Marcel Hossa didn't dress for a second straight game.
