It was a big night for the Rangers on Thursday, as they beat the New Jersey Devils 3-2 at The Garden to improve to a record-breaking 7-0-0 against their cross-river rivals this season. Nigel Dawes scored the winner to cap off a third-period comeback.

NOTES

* Scott Gomez registered two assists to earn First Star honors in his return to the lineup after missing Tuesday’s game vs. Philadelphia with an upper body injury. He has recorded 16 multi-point games this season, which is tied for the team lead.

* Chris Drury collected a season-high, three assists in 20:09 of icetime. He has registered six points (one goal and five assists) in the last five games.

* Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves to record his 23rd win at MSG and 35th overall this season. He improved to 7-0-0 with a 0.98 goals against average and two shutouts vs. New Jersey this season, and is 8-0-1 vs. the Devils at MSG in nine career appearances.

* Nigel Dawes tallied the game-winning goal at 16:54 of the third period and delivered a season-high, seven hits. He has notched two goals in the last three games.

* Brendan Shanahan recorded a power-play goal at 5:21 of the first period. He is now tied with Chris Drury for the team lead in goals (23) and power play goals (11).

* Christian Backman notched one goal, on the power play, and recorded three shots. He has registered four points (one goal and three assists) in the last three games.

* Ryan Callahan collected an assist and delivered six hits. He has recorded 10 points (seven goals and three assists) in the last 10 home games.

* Tom Renney is now tied with Herb Brooks for fifth on the Rangers’ all-time coaching wins list with 131 wins.

* The Blueshirts improved to 7-0-0 vs. the Devils this season. It is the first time in franchise history the Rangers have beaten a non-Original Six team seven times in a single season. The last time the Rangers recorded seven or more wins vs. a team in a single season was 1967-68 (Toronto).

* With the win, New York improves to 40-26-11 this season. It is the third consecutive 40-win season for the Rangers, their longest streak since they won 40 or more games in four consecutive seasons from 1970-74.

* The Rangers have sold out 114 consecutive regular season games.
