Gilbert, Richter to sign custom wine bottles
Proceeds from Mike Richter's Cabernet Sauvignon will go to Riverkeeper, which helps to protect New York's water supply.
Rangers legends Rod Gilbert and Mike Richter will be making a special appearance at Columbus Circle Wine & Liquor on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. to autograph bottles from the new NHL Alumni Wine Series.

Gilbert's favorite Chardonnay and Richter's Cabernet Sauvignon are among the wines included in this unique series presented by the National Hockey League Alumni Association to help support charities selected by the NHL Alumni Association and the Rangers Alumni Association.

Two players from each of six NHL teams were are being honored as part of the program, with Gilbert and Richter representing the Rangers.

"The NHL Alumni Association is excited to undertake this new endeavor, promoting and assisting the many wonderful charities that are affiliated with this wine program," said NHL Alumni Association Executive Director Mark Napier.

Rangers all-time scoring leader Rod Gilbert is being honored as part of the NHL Alumni Association wine series.
For every bottle of wine sold, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the charity of each player's choice, as well as a charity of the Rangers Alumni Association's choice.

A portion of the proceeds will also benefit the NHL Alumni Association’s "Hockey’s Greatest Family Fund" which helps bring together former players to support charitable causes, assist former players in life after hockey and generally promote the game of hockey.

Gilbert has chosen to donate his proceeds to the Capuchin Food Pantry which provides food and other necessities to over 2,000 poor families in New York. Richter's proceeds will go to Riverkeeper which is a nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to defending the Hudson River and New York City's water supply.

Other NHL teams participating in the wine series are the Islanders, Blackhawks, Red Wings, Flyers and Sabres.

Columbus Circle Wine & Liquor is located at 1802 Broadway in New York.

Note: Gilbert and Richter will only sign these special wine bottles at Wednesday's event. No other autograph opportunities will be available.
