Fedor Tyutin
Rangers defenseman Fedor Tyutin competed for Russia at the World Championship tournament on Friday afternoon in Quebec City, helping his nation to a 4-3 win over Belarus, a thrilling qualifying-round game that concluded in a shootout.

Paired with 2004 Toronto draft pick Dmitri Vorobiev on defense, Tyutin registered one shot on goal and 13:36 of ice time in his first game with Team Russia at this year's World tournament. Tyutin is making his first major international appearance since the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy.

Rangers players Henrik Lundqvist, Michal Rozsival and Brandon Dubinsky are also competing in this year's tournament. Each of the four Rangers players has been on the winning team in his 2008 World Championship debut

Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin led the way for Russia, which trailed 2-1 going into the third period. Ovechkin, the likely Hart Trophy winner as this year's NHL MVP, scored twice in the third period to give his country a lead, but Belarus' Alexei Ugarov forced overtime when he tied the game at 3-3 with only 3:48 remaining in regulation. Former NHL player Alexei Morozov got the deciding goal in the shootout.

With their victory, the Russians improved to 3-0-0 in the six-team Group E division and moved into a tie for first place with the Czech Republic.

Play resumes Saturday as Tyutin will go head-to-head with Lundqvist in a key game between Russia and Sweden.
