MSG to air 74 Rangers games in 2008-09

Network will also carry all eight preseason games

MSG to air 74 Rangers games in 2008-09
MSG announced today the official New York Rangers 2008-2009 television schedule. MSG will telecast 74 of the team's 82 games this season, 69 appearing on MSG and five games on sister-channel MSG Plus, all regular season games will be telecast in high-definition.

In addition, for the first time, MSG will be telecasting all eight of the Rangers preseason games, including two exhibition games from Bern, Switzerland. A complete schedule is included below.

Rangers coverage on MSG will kick-off this Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. with the Blueshirts taking on the Ottawa Senators. The Rangers are abroad for the teams first two regular season games, taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5 from Sazka Arena in Prague, Czech Republic, both games will air live at 12:00 p.m.

The team will return to Madison Square Garden for their home opener on Friday, October 10 against the Chicago Blackhawks at 7:00 p.m. MSG will televise a half-hour pre and post-game show for all Rangers matchups on the network this season.

Sam Rosen will return this season to handle play-by-play duties alongside Joe Micheletti, who will offer in-game analysis. Al Trautwig serves as host for Rangers telecasts and MSG roving hockey expert Stan Fischler will also appear throughout the season on various team telecasts.

New York Rangers hockey on MSG is directed by Bob Lewis and produced by Joe Whelan. Lydia Murphy-Stephans serves as executive vice president of programming and production for MSG Networks, and Jeff Filippi is vice president of production.

MSG Networks will continue its unprecedented commitment to the NHL, as MSG and MSG Plus will combine to telecast over 300 live Rangers, Islanders, Devils and Sabres games during the 2008-2009 hockey season.
