In keeping with its ongoing commitment to "make dreams come true for kids in crisis," the Garden of Dreams Foundation teamed up with the New York Rangers on Monday, Jan. 12, to host children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut for a skating party at the MSG Training Center.

Markus Naslund stops to pose for a picture with children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation at the Rangers' skating party.
Upon arrival at the Rangers' practice facility, the children were directed into their very own locker room where they each received a commemorative Rangers jersey. Once the kids were prepped and ready to go, the group was then escorted to the Rangers bench, where they eagerly awaited the chance to skate.

Before the children hit the ice, they were treated to a special surprise. Rangers players Markus Naslund, Michal Rozsival, Blair Betts, and Dmitri Kalinin were introduced and each player greeted the kids with high-fives. After the introductions, the Rangers players urged the children to join them on the ice for an afternoon of skating, pictures and autographs.

"It's not every day that you can make a lasting impression on a young child," stated Naslund, who was unable to skate that day but still wanted to participate in the event. "I hope that these kids had fun out here and remember this day for a long time. I know I had a blast in one of the sleds provided."

Also on-hand were representatives from the Wheelchair Sports Federation and the New York Rangers Sled Hockey Team to give demonstrations and lessons on how to play sled hockey.

At the end of this dream experience, the kids enjoyed snacks and Rangers' players handed out gift bags to all.

"It's always a good feeling when you can take a break from your every day routine to help children in need," stated Rozsival.
