13th Annual "Score a Goal Against Child Abuse" Event to Benefit Family Dynamics
Members of the New York Rangers joined alumnus and honorary chairman Adam Graves for the 13th Annual Family Dynamics fundraising event at the WaMu Theater Lobby at MSG on Wednesday, January 14th.
Nikolai Zherdev, Lauri Korpikoski, Nigel Dawes, and Dan Fritsche all attended on behalf of the Rangers and shared a fun-filled night with kids from the Family Dynamics program. The kids were treated to numerous interactive games, including air hockey, bubble hockey and foosball, as well as various carnival-style activities. The highlight for many of the kids was having the opportunity to play floor hockey and utilize the Rangers slap shot booth with some of the Rangers players. Every child attending also had a chance to receive each player's autograph and speak to the player one-on-one.

"Garden of Dreams has been absolutely wonderful for the kids of Family Dynamics," stated Renee Swanson, who is the Director of Institutional Advancement of SCO Family of Services. "But even more wonderful is Adam Graves, who for the last 17 years has been there all the time for our kids. He gives them so much attention; he cares so much about helping them. We couldn't have a better friend than Adam Graves."
"For the most part, I'm just a big kid, trying to have as much fun as I can," said Graves. "We all wake up every day and make mistakes, but that's life. Certainly it's about the journey, but most importantly it's about the people you meet along the way. That's why my entire New York experience is so special, because of the people. At The Garden, in the community, at Family Dynamics, Garden of Dreams, all of these great people that you meet."
As a part of the ceremony, children from Family Dynamics presented Graves with a special framed "thank you" collage which was personally signed by various children he has been involved with over the years.
After the heart warming ceremony, the Rangers held a live sports memorabilia auction, which helped raise additional funds for Family Dynamics. Some of the items in the auction included jerseys autographed by Brandon Dubinsky and Markus Naslund, a stick autographed by Chris Drury, a special commemorative package autographed by Graves, and much more.
