Dream Suite Nights a Big Success in 2008-09
Seven events were held during past season
Children and their families were able to watch warm-ups from ice level, receive insight of the game from MSG network personalities, and watch the Rangers take on their opponents from a catered suite with Rangers alumni and members of the wives and girlfriends group.
In addition to meeting Rangers alumni and broadcasters, all of the children and families invited to MSG this season had the thrill of being welcomed on GardenVision and MSG Network during the game – an experience that they will never forget.
On October 17, as part of Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night, the Rangers and Garden of Dreams hosted children and families from the Ronald McDonald House of New York.
Former Rangers Rod Gilbert, Adam Graves, and Gilles Villemure each visited with the children throughout the course of the night, taking pictures, signing autographs and distributing special gift bags.
On November 17, as part of Garden of Dreams Night, groups from Make-A-Wish of NJ and Loisaida enjoyed VIP treatment at the Rangers game against the Ottawa Senators. Members from the Rangers wives and girlfriends group, along with Rangers alumni Rod Gilbert and Ron Duguay visited the children during the second period.
On December 23, children from Make-A-Wish of Suffolk visited The Garden to catch the game versus the Washington Capitals.
Rangers’ alumni Rod Gilbert, Pete Stemkowski and Gilles Villemure as well as members from the wives and girlfriends group, spent part of the game with the children and post-game the guests were surprised with a visit to ice level to see Henrik Lundqvist.
For the first Dream Suite Night of the New Year, children from SCO Family of Services came to see the Rangers take on the Anaheim Ducks on January 20. After watching warm-ups rinkside and meeting the MSG announcers, the children enjoyed the game in their suite with visits from Nick Fotiu, Rod Gilbert and members of the wives and girlfriends group.
On February 26, the Rangers hosted groups from the Children’s Aid Society for the game versus the Florida Panthers. After in-game visits from members of the wives and girlfriends group as well as former Rangers Nick Fotiu and Rod Gilbert, the children received a special treat at the end of the game, a visit to the locker room to meet Henrik Lundqvist.
On March 22, as part of Garden of Dreams Night, the Rangers hosted groups from Make-A-Wish of Hudson Valley and the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation. They were joined by Rangers alumni Adam Graves, Stephane Matteau, and Gilles Villemure to watch the Rangers take on the Ottawa Senators.
On the final Dream Suite Night of the season on April 7, children and families from Hackensack University Medical Center enjoyed the Rangers victory over the Montreal Canadiens with visits from Rangers alumni Rod Gilbert and Pete Stemkowski.
In all, the Rangers and Garden of Dreams Foundation were honored to have the privilege of hosting these evenings for our partner charities and look forward to hosting many more Dream Nights during the 2009-10 season.
