Fellow Blueshirts prospect Stepan registers assist on first U.S. goal
Stepan, who is entering his sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin, was the first Rangers prospect to crack the scoresheet on Tuesday night. He picked up the lone assist on Danny Kristo's goal at 2:03 of the opening period to make it 1-0.
Bourque's power-play goal at 10:11 of the middle period gave the Americans a 6-1 lead. Bourque, a 2009 third-round pick by the Blueshirts was assisted by U.S. defenseman John Moore, who was picked in the first round of the draft.
Team USA won't have to wait long to see the Russians again. The second of four USA-Russia matchups will take place on Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
