Rangers Daily Prospect Update -- Aug. 22

Pavel Valentenko, one of the two Rangers prospects obtained in the June 30 trade involving Scott Gomez, helped Moscow Dynamo beat Rapperswil-Jona of the Swiss league 2-1 in a European preseason game on Saturday night. Valentenko did not pick up any points, but his club remained unbeaten in the preseason at 4-0. Dynamo has another game against aSwiss opponent on Monday at Lugano. The team's first KHL regular-season game is set for Sept. 11, when Valentenko will face the Moscow CSKA team that features fellow Rangers prospect Mikhail Pashnin.

In a QMJHL preseason game, 2008 Rangers draftee Chris Doyle scored Prince Edward Island's first goal in a 6-5 shootout win over Halifax at home. Doyle also scored in the shootout.
