Rangers Daily Prospect Update -- Aug. 29

One night after picking up three points in a road win over Acadie-Bathurst, Rangers prospect Chris Doyle did it again for Prince Edward Island on Saturday, netting two power-play goals and an assist in an 8-2 victory that capped off a successful weekend home-and-home series.

Doyle, who now has seven points in three QMJHL preseason games, scored his man-advantage goals at 3:58 of the second period to give PEI a 4-1 lead and at 2:10 of the third to make it 5-2. He also had a first-period assist on a power-play goal by Benjamin Cassavant.

The Rangers' fifth-round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Doyle also had a team-high six shots on goal Saturday night, completing the weekend series with a remarkable total of 16 shots.

In other Saturday preseason games involving Rangers prospects, Pavel Valentenko's power play goal at 16:01 of the second period helped Moscow Dynamo to a big 4-3 win over local rival Moscow Spartak on Saturday.

Valentenko, who was obtained by the Rangers in the June 30 trade involving Scott Gomez, picked up his first goal of the KHL preseason on a power play. The goal cut Spartak's early lead to 2-1 and set the stage for the Dynamo comeback. Dynamo eventually tied the game at 3-3 with only 57 remaining in regulation and went on to win in an overtime shootout.
