\'The Boys on the Bus\' comes to MSG
Rangers fans looking for a glimpse of what life was like for Blueshirts President and General Manager Glen Sather, Rangers legends Mark Messier and Wayne Gretzky, and several members of the Messier-led 1994 Stanley Cup-winning team who began their careers in Edmonton are in for a special treat this weekend.

The 1986-87 Oilers shown in The Boys on the Bus had many ties to future Rangers teams, including Glen Sather, Mark Messier and Wayne Gretzky.
On Saturday night at 10 p.m., MSG will air a classic hockey documentary in The Boys on the Bus, which chronicles the 1985-86 Edmonton Oilers team's unsuccessful attempt to win a third straight Stanley Cup, followed by the 1986-87 Oilers' march to the championship.

The film offers remarkable behind-the-scenes views of one of the greatest teams in NHL history, featuring Sather, Messier, Gretzky, Glenn Anderson, Jari Kurri and many others. Nine members of that 1986-87 team later found their way to New York with the Blueshirts.

Given virtually unlimited access to the dynasty that was the Oilers, director Bob McKeown manages to take hockey fans to places few sports documentary films are ever allowed to go. Viewers get a fascinating look at how some of the greatest players in NHL history interacted with one another when the spotlight wasn't on them.

The Boys on the Bus kicks off the MSG Cinema Weekend schedule, which will feature nine sports-related films throughout the summer.

Fans missing The Boys on the Bus on Saturday night can catch rebroadcasts in the month of June on June 5 at 8 p.m., June 6 at 1 a.m., June 20 at 10 p.m. Additional re-airing can be seen in July as well. Visit msg.com for complete Cinema Weekend listings.
