On Thursday, September 29, 2011, the New York Rangers and the Garden of Dreams Foundation hosted their fifth annual "Season Launch Party" to kick off the Rangers 2011-12 hockey season.  This year's celebration was held at SCO Family of Services, one of the Foundation's partner organizations, where 250 children enjoyed an afternoon filled with fun, games, and hockey alongside Rangers greats, Nick Fotiu and Brian Mullen.

During the party, children enjoyed face painters and various interactive games such as air hockey, bubble hockey and tri-hockey tables, as they watched the Rangers beat the New Jersey Devils 4-3 on big-screen televisions throughout the SCO gymnasium.

“We’re having a lot of fun here with the Garden of Dreams kids,” stated Fotiu. “It’s a great event. I’ll tell you one thing the kids are having a great time and it’s nice to see.”

The Rangers Road Tour was also on hand and provided lots of excitement with interactive hockey games and various contests such as Rangers trivia questions and equipment dress-up relay races.

“We’ve got video games, the slap shot cage, kids getting their face painted, kids playing knock hockey,” Mullen said after taking a break from one of the interactive games. “We’re having a blast.”

In addition, the kids also participated in arts and crafts activities and created many "welcome home" and "good luck" posters for the Rangers that will be delivered to the players upon their return home from their pre-season trip to Europe. Included in the many well wishes was a giant poster board that read "Let's Go Rangers" signed by all the children from SCO Family of Services who attended the party.

The children were also treated to healthy and delicious boxed lunches courtesy of 1st & Fresh Catering, as well as Rangers goodies, autographs and photos!
