Rangers prospect Michael St. Croix, the No. 3 scorer in the Western Hockey League, was named the WHL's Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday.

The honors have been flowing for St. Croix, a 2011 Rangers fourth-round draft pick. He has already set career-highs this season with 31 goals and 77 points and is emerging as one of the steals of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, having been taken 106th overall.

The son of former NHL goaltender Rick St. Croix, Michael St. Croix has also been named WHL Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 4, and he was the WHL's Player of the Month in December.

In three games over the past week with the Edmonton Oil Kings, St. Croix collected 10 points, scoring six goals and four assists to go with a plus-7 rating. He helped the Oil Kings to a 3-0-0-0 record with two hat tricks in the three games.

On Jan. 18, the Oil Kings welcomed the Prince George Cougars to Rexall Place in Edmonton.  St. Croix picked up the hat trick, finding the net three times and was named the games 1st Star as the Oil Kings’ shut-out the Cougars’ 5-0.  On Friday, he collected a pair of assists in a 6-1 road victory over the Swift Current Broncos. On Saturday, the Oil Kings were in Prince Albert to face the Raiders, and St. Croix nabbed his third hat-trick of the season, scoring three goals, adding two assists and was also named games 1st Star in the Oil Kings’ 9-2 win over the Raiders.

St. Croix currently ranks third among all WHL scorers with 77 points (31 goals, 46 assists) in 48 games played thus far this season.  The Oil Kings are 7-2-0-1 in their past 10 games and currently sit first in the WHL Eastern Conference with a 32-11-1-4 record for 69 points.

A native of Winnipeg, St. Croix, 18, was also in the running for the Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week award, which he went on to win on Wednesday.
