Michael St. Croix, the Rangers' 2011 fourth-round draft pick, continued his strong start in the Western Hockey League on Sunday by scoring two goals to help the defending champion Edmonton Oil Kings beat visiting Red Deer 6-2.

St. Croix, who ranked among the WHL's top scorers with 105 points last season, had two points in the Oil Kings' opener on Thursday -- less than a week after signing his first pro contract with the Rangers.

St. Croix, an alternate captain, scored his second goal of the game with 28 seconds left on an Edmonton power play at 8:10 of the second period, opening up a 4-1 lead for the Oil Kings.

The Oil Kings dominated the Rebels throughout the game, outshooting Red Deer 53-20 to improve to 2-0 on the season. Edmonton's next game will be Wednesday night at Lethbridge.
