Over 200 children gathered at the Children’s Aid Society Dunlevy Milbank Center to take part in the event where MSG celebrity guests surprised the children to distribute Garden of Dreams backpacks filled with school supplies. Celebrity guests on hand for the event included Garden of Dreams Board Member and legendary hip hop artist Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, The World Famous Radio City Rockettes, New York Rangers legends Adam Graves and Rod Gilbert, New York Knicks player Jason Kidd, NBA great Baron Davis, Knicks alumni Cal Ramsey, John Starks and Larry Johnson, the Knicks City Dancers, and New York Liberty mascot, Maddie.

The event kicked off with an energetic introduction of the celebrity guests and an incredible performance by the Knicks City Dancers that brought excitement that lasted throughout the fun filled afternoon. After the performance, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels spoke about the importance of paying it forward and giving back to the community.
Following the impactful message by Darryl McDaniels, all of the celebrities joined to distribute school supplies to every child in attendance with each child receiving notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, calculators, rulers and other supplies for a successful school year.
The Rangers Road Tour was on-site and hosted street hockey games and instruction with Gilbert and Graves, while the Knicks and other divisions of MSG hosted different activities throughout the Milbank Center.
“It is great to come here to their environment and bring the kids supplies they need for the school year,” Gilbert said. “Even better that it’s a beautiful day and we can play some hockey with them too. It’s a win-win.”
At the conclusion of the event, the children walked away with smiles on their faces and backpacks filled with brand new school supplies to give them a fresh start on a new school year!
