Tonight's Game
The Rangers will face-off against the Buffalo Sabres tonight at Madison Square Garden (7:30 p.m.), as they continue their four-game homestand. The Blueshirts currently rank fourth in the Atlantic Division standings, and rank 10th in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 9-8-2 (20 pts). The Rangers enter the contest having defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning, 4-1, on Thursday at Madison Square Garden, to sweep the season series against the Lightning (3-0-0). The Blueshirts have recorded at least a point in five of their last seven home games (4-2-1). The Sabres currently own a record of 9-12-1 (17 pts) to rank 12th in the Eastern Conference and have won their last three games. Following tonight's contest, the Rangers will conclude their four-game homestand when they face-off against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, Mar. 5, at Madison Square Garden (7:30 p.m.), in an Atlantic Division matchup.

Rangers vs. Sabres Pregame Notes

* The Rangers were 3-1-0 (1-1-0 at home; 2-0-0 on the road) against Buffalo in 2011-12. Two of their four meetings required extra time, including a 1-0 shootout victory on Feb. 1 at Buffalo. The Rangers' penalty kill was 10-11 (90.9%) and tallied two shorthanded goals in the season series. Carl Hagelin led the Rangers in scoring with three goals and four points in the series, while Michael Del Zotto tied for the series lead with three assists. Henrik Lundqvist was 2-1-0 with a 1.92 GAA, .925 Sv% and 1 shutout, and Martin Biron was 1-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and .970 Sv%.

* Eight of their last 12 Rangers-Sabresmeetings have been decided by one goal, including four that required overtime.

* Ryan Callahan notched the game-winning goal in each Blueshirts' win against Buffalo last season, including the game-deciding goal in the Rangers' 1-0 shootout win on Feb. 1

* New York is tied for fifth in the NHL with a 7-4-1 (15 pts) record at home; Buffalo ranks 14th in the NHL with a 5-6-0 (10 pts) mark on the road.

* The Rangers are 3-3-1 vs. the Northeast Division this season; the Sabres are 3-2-0 vs. the Atlantic Division this season.

* The Rangers list two former Sabres on their roster: Martin Biron (1995-96 to 2006-07); Taylor Pyatt (2001-02 to 2005-06).

* Buffalo lists one former Ranger on its roster: John Scott (2011-12).
