“Education is core to what WHEDco stands for and we cannot thank KIA, the Rangers or Garden of Dreams enough for thinking of us and investing in the future of our children and our community with the establishment of this reading center”, said WHEDco Executive Vice President Davon Russell.

Rangers alumnus Ron Greschner was on hand for the assembly held during school day. The assembly announced the exciting new project and celebrated KIA’s contribution to Garden of Dreams and WHEDco. The 300 children who attended the assembly were treated to Rangers giveaway items and a t-shirt toss from the 7th Avenue Squad.

Following the assembly, Greschner and KIA representative Luke Kim joined 10 children in the KIA Reading Center for the ribbon cutting and a special reading of the children’s book “’R’ is for Rangers”. After reading the book, Greschner and Kim provided the kids Rangers gift bags and the kids headed home for the day.

“I have had the pleasure of coming to WHEDco with the Power Players program and seeing the energy and excitement from the kids as they learn hockey. It makes me proud of what the Rangers do in the community,” said Ron Greschner. “Today is no different, it is an honor to be a part of this project that will provide necessary books, computers and materials to the children served by WHEDco.”
