On-Ice AM Sessions: Included appearances by current Rangers Radio & “Hockey Night Live” Analyst Dave Maloney as well as Pat Boller, Assistant Coach of the Hartford Wolf Pack. The former New York Rangers Captain coached players through skating drills that focused on individual skills, balance and power. Pat Boller was also on the ice working with players on 1 on 1 battle drills that improved players edge control.
On-Ice PM Sessions: Quickly moved into skating with the puck through tight turns, crossovers and acceleration. Goaltenders began their week with skating drills specific to their position and age.
Dynamic Training: Was led by Coach Jason Fortino of Total Nunziato Training located in Elmwood Park, NJ. Today’s training was programmed around explosive movements and assisted players in developing faster transitions and quicker feet.
Classroom Session: Introduced the camps nutritional component. Nutritional logs were distributed to assist all campers in logging their progress throughout the week. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the week to the camper who performs the greatest in this area.
Off-Ice Skills Sessions: Coaches spent time on stick handling that introduced small area drills players can use throughout the season such as hands & feet, hand slide wide, around the body and figure 8 drills. Goaltenders continued developing their skills off the ice as well through hand eye coordination drills led by a dedicated goaltending instructor.
Tomorrow’s Preview: Former Rangers defenseman Ron Greschner stops by camp.
