2013 New York Rangers Youth Hockey Camp presented by Chase: Week 2 Day 4 Recap
On-Ice AM Sessions: New York Ranger alumni, Stephane Matteau and Adam Graves coached players through drills designed to develop strength in even strength situational play as well as awareness on the ice. The two members of the 1994 Stanley Cup Championship team placed special attention on each players compete, legal use of hands/body and defensive positioning.
On-Ice PM Sessions: Players continued situational play through odd man and defensive situations. Coaches again focused on defensive positioning along with player communication and proper angles. Goaltenders completed their on-ice training with high shot rebound control.
Dynamic Training: Coach Jason Fortino of Total Nunziato Training located in Elmwood Park, N.J., led Thursday’s program that consisted of a dynamic full body workout. A series of warm up exercises gave campers a chance to loosen up their muscles.
Classroom Session: Wrapped up the week with a nutritional themed game of jeopardy which challenged the campers to call upon their newly acquired knowledge of physical fitness, hydration and exercise.
Off-Ice Skills Sessions: Players began improving on the fundamentals of shooting high to both the near and far sides of the net. Goaltenders concluded their off-ice training with a hand eye coordination routine that can be used throughout the season as part of their warm up routine.
