Talbot and Missiaen Swap Roster Spots
One day after backing up Henrik Lundqvist in a 2-0 win over the Washington Capitals, and two days after being recalled from the minor leagues, goaltender Cam Talbot was reassigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack Thursday afternoon. Talbot swaps spots with Jason Missiaen, who was recalled to take his place by the Rangers.
The Rangers did not practice Thursday so head coach Alain Vigneault was not available to explain the move. However it would seem that the team is looking to keep Talbot sharp by getting him playing time with the Wolf Pack while also backing up Lundqvist at the NHL level. Hartford returns to action with a home contest against Manchester Friday night, a game Talbot would be expected to start. The question would be if Talbot would remain with the Wolf Pack for their contest Saturday night in Portland or back up Lundqvist at the Prudential Center.
Talbot, who appeared in a career-high 55 games in the AHL a year ago, has played in three games with the Wolf Pack this season, posting a 2-0-1 record with a 2.54 goals against average and .918 save percentage. Missiaen won his only start so far this year for Hartford after appearing in 25 games with the Connecticut Whale where he was 10-8-2 with a 3.07 goals against average a year ago.
The 23 year-old Missiaen will be with the Rangers at Friday's practice at the MSG Training Center.
