TONIGHT'S GAME
The Rangers will face-off against the Dallas Stars tonight, Jan. 10, at Madison Square Garden (7:00p.m. — TV: MSG Network; Radio: ESPN 98.7), to begin a four-game homestand. The Blueshirts currently rank third in the Metropolitan Division standings, and eighth in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 22-20-3 (47 pts). The Rangers enter the contest having defeated the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2, on Wednesday at United Center, in an Original Six matchup. The Blueshirts have registered a point in nine of their last 12 games (7-3-2), including five of their last six at home (3-1-2), and rank sixth in the conference in ROW (19). The Stars currently own a 20-15-7 (47 pts) record to rank 10th in the Western Conference entering their contest tonight at New Jersey, and have lost their last three games. Following tonight’s contest, the Rangers will return to action when they face-off against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, Jan. 12, at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m.), in a Metropolitan Division matchup.

  • 2013-14: Tonight is the second of two meetings this season, and the only meeting at Madison Square Garden. New York tallied two goals in a span of 37 seconds early in the third period to pull out the victory. The Rangers converted their only power play attempt in the contest, from Rick Nash in the first period. Chris Kreider and John Moore also tallied a goal apiece for the Blueshirts. Henrik Lundqvist made a season-high, 41 saves, including a career-high 23 saves in the first period.
  • Last Season: Did not play. In 2011-12, New York was 0-1-0 overall (0-1-0 at home; 0-0-0 on the road), following a 1-0 loss on Dec. 13, 2011 at Madison Square Garden. Callahan and Del Zotto are also riding three-game assist streaks, with each of Del Zotto's three assists coming on the power play.

The Blueshirts rank fourth in the NHL when scoring the game's first goal, posting a record of 18-2-1 (.857 win%) in those contests. The Rangers are also 11-2-1 when leading after the first period, and 14-1-1 when leading after the second.

BLUESHIRT DEBUT
Daniel Carcillo
was credited with two hits while making his Rangers debut on Wednesday at Chicago. He became the seventh player to make his Rangers debut this season, along with Benoit Pouliot, Jesper Fast, Justin Falk, Cam Talbot, Dylan McIlrath, and Conor Allen.

BIG D
Henrik Lundqvist
made a season-high, 41 saves, including 23 in the first period, and tallied a power play assist in the Rangers first meeting with the Stars this season. His 23 saves in the first established a career-high for saves in a single period, breaking his previous career-high of 20 saves (Dec. 29, 2010 vs. NJD, Second Period; Apr. 6, 2013 vs. CAR, Third Period). It was also the 14th time in his career Lundqvist recorded 40 or more saves in a contest, improving to 9-0-5 with a 1.39 GAA, .968 Sv%, and four shutouts in those games.

ROAD WARRIORS
New York has won 12 of their last 16 road contests, including four of their last five, and are now 14-10-0 away from Madison Square Garden this season. The Rangers' 14 road wins lead the Eastern Conference, and are tied for first in the league overall. The Blueshirts power play ranks third in the NHL on the road, tallying 19-74 (25.7%) with the man advantage on the road.

SHOOTING GALLERY
The Blueshirts registered a season-high, 50 shots on goal in a 7-1 victory on Saturday at Toronto. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time the Rangers had 50 or more shots in a game was Dec. 27, 2010 vs. the NY Islanders (52 shots), and the last time they posted 50+ shots in a road game was Feb. 15, 2003 at Buffalo (52 shots). The Blueshirts have out-shot their opponent in 11 of the last 14 games, holding a 490-403 shot advantage over their opponents during the stretch. The Rangers have registered 40 or more shots seven times this season, including in four of the last eight games, and have posted 30 or more shots in 14 of the last 18 contests. New York currently ranks sixth in the NHL with 32.1 shots per game.

MOORE POINTS
Dominic Moore
and John Moore each tallied an assist on Brian Boyle’s third period goal against Columbus on Monday at Madison Square Garden. The last time the Rangers had two players with the same last name register a point on the same goal was on Oct. 21, 2006 at Toronto, when Aaron Ward assisted on a goal by Jason Ward.

GOALS GALORE
The Rangers concluded a five-game road trip with a 7-1 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday at Air Canada Centre. The seven goals marked a season-high for New York, and are the most the Rangers have tallied in a game since an 8-4 win on Apr. 19, 2013 at Buffalo. Additionally, the six-goal margin of victory is the largest for the Rangers since a 7-0 win on Mar. 6, 2011 vs. Philadelphia. The last time the Blueshirts tallied seven or more goals in Toronto was an 8-2 victory on Mar. 14, 1990.

MILESTONE MATS
Mats Zuccarello
established a career-high with three power play points on Dec. 29 at Tampa Bay, while tying his career-best for most points in a game. On Dec. 20 vs. NY Islanders, he tallied a power play assist to establish a single-season career-high in scoring with his 24th point of the season. Zuccarello has registered 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) in the last 23 games, with 10 points (five goals, five assists) in the last 11, and has tallied 31 points (11 goals, 20 assists) in the last 37 games since his healthy scratch on Oct. 24 at Philadelphia. He leads the team in power play points (14), and is tied for the team lead in goals (11), assists (20), and points (31) this season.

COUNTDOWN TO 6K
The Rangers have played in 5,987 regular season games throughout the franchise's 88 seasons, just 13 games shy of 6,000 all-time. The Blueshirts are scheduled to play their 6,000th game all-time on February 6 against the Edmonton Oilers at Madison Square Garden.
