STAT OF THE GAME
The  Rangers blocked nearly twice as many shots as the Lightning. The 15-8 edge in blocks was just one indication of how much playoff-style desperation the Blueshirts were able to inject into their game after falling behind 2-0.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

With 20 games left in the season, the Rangers have a chance to return to the conference's top eight if they win their first game after the Olympic break. They are currently just one point behind Montreal with a game in hand.
