GAME RECAP
Erik Christensen set the tone by scoring the first of his two goals just 21 seconds into the contest, and the Rangers played an extremely inspired game in defeating Toronto 5-1 at MSG. The Rangers -- 6-1-1 in their last eight  -- have 84 points, one behind Boston for the eighth and final playoff spot.

STAT OF THE GAME
Erik Christensen's goal, just 21 seconds into the first period, was the earliest the Rangers have scored in a game in more than two years. Just like its predecessor, a Sean Avery goal vs. Buffalo on Feb. 16, 2008, it set the tone for a 5-1 home rout.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

It's this simple: If the Rangers sweep the Flyers this weekend with at least one of the two wins in regulation, then they are in the playoffs. Even without a sweep, they still have a chance to get in at Boston's expense.

THREE-STAR SELECTIONS BY THE MEDIA
No. 1 star 1. Erik Christensen
Opened the game’s scoring just 21 seconds into the first period, added his second goal later in the first. He has four points in the last two games at MSG.

2. Vinny Prospal
Scored game-winning goal, added an assist for his 15th multi-point effort of the season. The goal was his 20th, marking the fifth time he has reached 20.

3. Henrik Lundqvist
Made 26 saves and is now 6-1-1 in the last eight games, registering a 2.23 GAA with a .929 save percentage and a pair of shutouts over that span.
