Callahan's OT Goal vs. Pens is Moment of the Season

The fans have spoken. Rangers alternate captain Ryan Callahan's overtime goal on Nov. 15, 2010, at Pittsburgh has been named the newyorkrangers.com Moment of the Season for 2010-11. Callahan's goal, which capped off an amazing comeback victory, won the title by the slimmest of margins over Mats Zuccarello's first NHL goal vs. Carolina on Jan. 5, 2011, at The Garden. Callahan claimed 50.7 percent of the voting by Rangers fans, while the Zuccarello goal took 49.3 percent of the vote.

Thanks to all who voted throughout the Moment of the Season balloting, which began back on May 10, when there were 32 candidates in the running. One lucky fan who voted in at least one of the final three rounds (quarterfinals, semifinals or finals) was the winner of a limited edition 85th Anniversary hockey stick signed by the entire New York Rangers team. That winner was informed on June 3.

Comments from fans who voted for Callahan's goal ...

The boys were defensively perfect in this game, and they had to be -- six penalties against and zero for is really "fair" after all. But Dubi and Cally found a way, and every Rangers fan was out of their seat cheering at home for it. What could be better?
-- Rich DeFrancisco from West Islip, N.Y.

This game defined what this team was this year -- a hard-working group of guys with a never-give-up attitude. In other words, a team we have never been more proud of!
-- Melissa Andus from Staten Island, N.Y.

This moment was by far the most memorable. During this game, I remember going from hopeless, to interested, to excited, to ecstatic. There is no contest -- this moment defined the 2010-2011 New York Rangers.
-- John Grady from Bernardsville, N.J.

Callahan is the heart and soul of the Rangers. Callahan has been great and showed a lot grit with his comeback after his first injury. This is just one of thousands more moments to come from a true Ranger.
-- Matthew Hitchens from Jersey City, N.J.

The Rangers stole this game away from the refs and Penguins. This is a never-say-quit team and they proved it with that win.
-- Muhammad Elbana from Morganville, N.J.

Callahan showed true heart this season -- battling through injuries and being a key part of getting the Rangers to the postseason. Who better to be the holder of the Moment of the Season?
-- Mike Cullen from Winnipeg, Manitoba

The fact Staal tied it up after having the 1-0 lead slip away in the last couple minutes, and to have Cally bury it on the 2-on-1. A classic moment in Rangers history!
-- Paul Suggs from San Clemente, Calif.

The way the game went -- to lose the lead and then come back to tie and then win -- was a huge character booster!
-- Jimmy Girolamo from Mahopac, N.Y.

I still remember the night it happened. It's a moment I would have loved to witness in person.
-- Michael DiBiase from New Fairfield, Conn.

The game looked over after we were shorthanded. Best game of the season, hands down.
-- Brett Scharf from North Brunswick, N.J.

It was a great end to game where most thought the Rangers were finished.

A huge turn of events and a huge win when all seemed to be working against us.
