The New York Rangers and Coca-Cola have partnered with the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA and NYC PAL to launch the fourth season of a free program to provide indoor youth hockey instruction for more than 3,000 New York City youth this year. The newly expanded “New York Rangers Youth Street Hockey Program presented by Coca-Cola, Get the Ball Rolling” includes additional NYC Parks & Recreation centers, Boys & Girls Clubs, and YMCA locations along with new NYC PAL locations increasing the number of program centers to 60 across the Tri-State.
Over the course of the season participating youth are offered free hockey instruction and tips on the importance of exercising and eating a balanced diet. The weekly scheduled clinics that begin in December run through the end of January, will educate and inspire hundreds of kids throughout the New York City region and engage them in a healthy, active lifestyle this winter. The program culminates in early spring with a tournament on the Intrepid involving all the groups.
The hockey clinics will focus on introducing youth to the sport of hockey and teaching them the importance of exercising. Sports instruction will focus on individual skills, team participation, and fundamentals of the game such as passing, shooting and stick handling.
All participants will receive:
- An official jersey
- Basic hockey skills playbook
- Weekly basic skills instruction
- Access to street hockey equipment
