New York Rangers Youth Street Hockey Program presented by Coca-Cola, Get the Ball Rolling

The New York Rangers and Coca-Cola have partnered with the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, Boys & Girls Clubs, NYC PAL, YMCA, and HeartShare to launch the sixth season of a free program to provide indoor youth hockey instruction for more than 3,000 New York City youth this year. The newly expanded “New York Rangers Youth Street Hockey Program presented by Coca-Cola, Get the Ball Rolling” includes additional NYC Parks & Recreation centers, Boys & Girls Clubs, and YMCA locations along with new NYC PAL locations increasing the number of program centers to 60 across the Tri-State.

Over the course of the season participating youth are offered free hockey instruction and tips on the importance of exercising and eating a balanced diet. The weekly scheduled clinics that begin in December run through the end of January, will educate and inspire hundreds of kids throughout the New York City region and engage them in a healthy, active lifestyle this winter. The program culminates in early spring with a tournament on the Intrepid Museum pier involving all the groups.

The hockey clinics will focus on introducing youth to the sport of hockey and teaching them the importance of exercising. Sports instruction will focus on individual skills, team participation, and fundamentals of the game such as passing, shooting and stick handling.

All participants will receive:

  • An official jersey
  • Basic hockey skills playbook
  • Weekly basic skills instruction
  • Access to street hockey equipment

In addition, select youth participants may be awarded a free trip to attend a New York Rangers game at Madison Square Garden as part of the Rangers "Youth Hockey Night."

Program Locations

The New York Rangers and Madison Square Garden Signature Partner Coca-Cola have partnered to provide an opportunity for children to learn and participate in the sport of hockey. Through the partnership and an expansion of introductory programs with NYC Parks & Recreation, the Boys & Girls Clubs, and YMCA’s more than 2,500 youth across the Tri-State will be provided the opportunity to participate, be active and exercise in a comprehensive recreational program focused on promoting healthy, active living.
