Stepan's Sixth-Round Shootout Goal is Moment of the Week
(Week of Jan. 9-15)

Derek Stepan's deciding goal in the sixth round of a shootout against the Phoenix Coyotes on Jan. 10 at Madison Square Garden was named the newyorkrangers.com Moment of the Week for Week 15 of the 2011-12 regular season. Stepan won in a fairly close three-way vote with 42.9 percent of the balloting by Rangers fans. Finishing second was the tic-tac-goal scored by Mike Rupp to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead on Jan. 14 at Toronto. That very pretty goal toook 32.6 percent of the vote. Coming in third was Brian Boyle's first goal in 23 games, also scored in the 3-0 win at Toronto. Boyle collected 24.5 percent of the votes.

Description: Stepan beat Phoenix goaltender Mike Smith high to the glove side before Henrik Lundqvist stopped Coyotes captain Shane Doan to secure the win. The Rangers improved to 27-9-4 for a league-leading 58 points, the team's best start since 1993-94 when they won their last Stanley Cup.
