Gaborik's OT Goal at Boston is Moment of the Week
(Week of Jan. 16-22)

There was no need to hold balloting for a Moment of the Week in Week 16 the 2011-12 regular season. Rangers forward Marian Gaborik's remarkable goal with 3.6 seconds left in overtime would have won in a ridiculous landslide anyway, so instead of staging a vote, we gave it the unprecedented opportunity to run for the honor uncontested. Heading into the NHL All-Star break, we also used this week's Moment of the Week space to invite fans to share their thoughts on the 2011-12 season. Thanks to all who took time to respond to our little survey on what has impressed them most about this Rangers team through its first 47 games. A selection of fans' comments can be found below.

on a power play with 3.6 seconds left in OT

Description: In the closing seconds of overtime, Boston's Tuukka Rask saved a shot from Ryan Callahan and then knocked away a backhander from Brad Richards with his glove. Gaborik put in the rebound for the game-winner. "We got the puck at the net and three glorious chances," said Gaborik. "And the third, we got a goal."

Comments from fans regarding the 2011-12 Rangers ...

Michael Del Zotto has seriously stepped up this season after a tough finish to last year. He's been putting in a lot of minutes on the ice and doing a great job at that. I'm really impressed how he's matured with the team so far.
-- Peter from Darien, Conn.

This team has a real ability to bounce back from a tough game and put some wins together.
-- Tyler from Wappingers Falls, N.Y.

They never give up.
-- Wayne from Auckland, New Zealand.

Michael Del Zotto's play is by far the most shocking/impressive part of the 2011-12 Rangers team. I didn't like him last season, but now he's one of my favorite Rangers.
-- Cristian Kim from Bronx, N.Y..

What has impressed me most about this team is its consistency. They have four win streaks of four games, three win streaks of five games, and a seven-game win streak. When the Rangers do actually lose, they are resilient -- never losing more then a game or two at a time. Henrik Lundqvist is also my pick for MVP.
-- Kevin Breen from Floral Park, N.Y.

This team battles so hard, and their fitness level is second to none! But what I love most thus far is the team's ability to avoid getting stuck in rut. If they lose a game I almost feel sorry (key word is almost) for the next team on the schedule.
-- Paul from Suffolk County N.Y.

Two words: Persistence and Consistency. This Rangers team has dug down deeper than ever before and are playing all-around great hockey! Every player is contributing. Also, The consistent win streaks are instrumental to fueling the confidence level!
-- Justin Falquecee from Commack, N.Y.

The team morale impresses me most. They stick together after a tough loss and respond quickly with huge wins!
-- Edwin Burri from Basel, Switzerland

This team plays its game for 60 minutes and doesn't "sit" on a lead.
-- Mike Watson from Selden, N.Y.

The Rangers are firing on all cylinders, The Offense is producing, the defense is agressive and really hard to beat, and Lundqvist and Biron are playing great!
-- Martin Shaw from Linlithgow, Scotland

I now actually expect the Rangers to win every game, which is a nice feeling.
-- Nissim Elmann from Brooklyn, N.Y.

It's been a great run and we finally have four full lines. The defense steped up when we had so many injuries!
-- Stephen from Ronkonkoma, N.Y.

I'm impressed that the Rangers are playing so well with young players and their young players are proving themselves to be talented hockey players.
-- Ryan Harrington from Brookefield, Conn..

The overall scoring ability from every player on the roster, the strong defensive force, and outstanding goaltending from Hank and amazing preformances from Biron are what impress me most.
-- Matt from Glastonbury, Conn.

The passion and consistency have been impressive thus far and we will need to keep that, especially during these dog days of January and February. It is not going to get any easier.
-- Jimmy from Mahopac, N.Y.

The Rangers have shown resiliency all year long, and the way they battled the Bruins tells me they are the "real deal".
-- Jimmy Silvano from Garrison, N.Y.

The fact that the Rangers rank 23rd in the league on the power play but have their current standing in the league is outstanding.
-- Robert I. Mintz from Pembroke Pines, Fla.

They keep coming back when they are down a goal or more and find a way to win.
-- John Lauer from Morgantown, Pa.

This team continues to impress. They are serious contenders and continue to prove night after night that they can and will find a way to win!
-- Cassandra from New Jersey

Coach Tortorella has kept the team focused on the long term, and has kept his players motivated through injuries that they've had to play through all season long.
-- Brian Mac from East Elmhurst, N.Y.

The team to work, skate hard, hit hard and not hang their heads when adversity happens. Great heart!!
-- Tom F. from Grass Valley, Calif.

I've been flying through my living room for the whole season with thrilling victories over "unbeatable" teams. The Rangers have proven that they can bring the Cup back to where it belongs! I'm waiting for the playoffs and a trip to MSG!
-- Aleksi Lappalainen from Helsinki, Finland

I have been impressed with many aspects of the Rangers' season thus far, but I have been most impressed with their consistency.
-- Frances D. from New York, N.Y.
