NEW YORK (AP) -- Boris Mironov of the New York Rangers was suspended without pay for two games by the NHL on Saturday, and Adam Mair of the Buffalo Sabres received a one-game suspension without pay for their roles in a cross-check confrontation.
Mironov received a match penalty and a game misconduct late in the third period of the Rangers' 3-1 win over Buffalo on Friday night after he cross-checked Mair along the boards. The hit was made in retaliation after Mair originally went after Mironov and missed.
Mironov was suspended for the Rangers' games against Toronto on Saturday and the New York Islanders on Thursday. He also loses $21,388 in salary.
Mair will sit out Saturday's game against Minnesota, and lose $2,962 in salary.
